Yesterday, the recipients of next year's prestigious Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Prize were announced. Among the ten prize winners is Frank Pollmann, professor at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) and member of Munich Quantum Valley (MQV). With this award, the DFG honors Pollmann's groundbreaking work in theoretical quantum physics, in particular statistical mechanics of many particles and its connection to quantum information theory.
In addition to Pollmann, Prof. Klaus Blaum from the Max Planck Institute for Nuclear Physics, former member of the MQV Executive Board, was also awarded the Leibniz Prize.
The Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Prize is one of the most prestigious research awards in Germany and comes with prize money of €2.5 million.
