Teacher training in the PhotonLab

On Monday, June 2, 2025, PhotonLab hosted a lively and practical teacher training session on quantum physics and digital teaching materials available on Mebis and H5P. After a brief introduction to PhotonLab, participants were introduced to interactive quantum physics books. These were developed in collaboration with Munich Quantum Valley and were the main focus of the training.

Concrete examples were used to show how quantum computing can be integrated into teaching in a didactically meaningful way using the so-called spin-first approach via qubit visualization in order to convey fundamental quantum concepts in an understandable way.

A workshop on courses on Mebis, the learning platform for Bavarian schools, provided insights into materials that have already been developed and invited participants to discuss how they could be implemented in their own lessons. In addition, the presentation “From Qubit to Quantum Computer” conveyed key concepts of quantum information in a clear and concise manner, accompanied by interactive teaching materials.

In the afternoon, the participants split into two groups and took turns exploring the PhotonLab with interactive experiments and the experimental setup with single photons, including a scientific lab tour. The training was supported by the Stifterverband Quantumskills.
