In beautiful summer weather, visitors began flocking to Museum Island on Saturday from 10 a.m. Amid robot dogs roaming the area, they could explore various fields of science and technology through numerous creative activities and hands-on experiences along the Uferstraße.
Curious visitors of all ages were impressed by the components of real quantum computers on display at the MQV booth, learned about the fundamental properties of light and quanta through the quantum eraser experiment, and asked countless questions about quantum technologies and the state of research and development for quantum computers both globally and locally. In addition to the quantum computing hardware, which was made tangible thanks to exhibits featuring superconducting and neutral-atom quantum computers, visitors were also able to explore quantum algorithms in a playful way. Using the MQV beer coasters, which are printed with various quantum gates and other elements, visitors could assemble quantum circuits. Anyone who successfully constructed a computational operation was delighted to take the beer coasters home as a souvenir afterward. The button-making machine, which allowed visitors to create their own buttons featuring quantum computer motifs, was also very popular. In particular, the motif of the quantum computer chip, which many had previously held in their own hands, was very well received.
The family festival on Museum Island took place alongside the academic conference as part of the Festival of the Future, which was jointly organized by 1E9 and the Deutsches Museum under the motto “ideas and inventions for a better world tomorrow.”
