QMunicate – Lead Systems Engineer Quantum Network Node (f/m/d)

published since:

Join the founding team developing the connectivity layer for future quantum technologies — at the intersection of quantum optics, hardware engineering and scalable infrastructure.

Lead Systems Engineer — Quantum Network Node

You are the technical owner of the whole machine. You make cavity, atoms, lasers, photonics, electronics and software work as one system, and you lead the team that builds it.

Responsibilities

  • Own the system architecture: requirements, interfaces and error budgets for rates, fidelity and uptime
  • Lead integration of the first in-house node and its transfer to a rack-based design
  • Plan and track technical milestones; run design reviews through to design freeze
  • Coordinate and mentor engineers across physics, photonics, electronics and software
  • Set up documentation, configuration control and lab safety; act as technical lead in customer pilots
  • You report to the CTO

Requirements

  • PhD in AMO physics
  • 6+ years building and operating complex cold-atom or quantum-optics experiments end-to-end (PhD and postdoc count)
  • Hands-on breadth across UHV, laser systems and stabilization, optics, experimental control, optical tweezers, and Rydberg physics
  • Proven ownership of a full apparatus or sub-project, including guiding others
  • Systems-level thinking and clear communication with both physicists and engineers

Nice to have

  • Cavity QED, Yb or Sr atoms
