Join the founding team developing the connectivity layer for future quantum technologies — at the intersection of quantum optics, hardware engineering and scalable infrastructure.
Software Engineer — Experiment Control & Automation
You build the software that runs the machine: experiment control and automated calibration first, then the firmware that lets the node operate unattended in a customer rack.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain the experiment-control stack: sequences, instrument drivers, GUI
- Interface hardware: cameras, arbitrary waveform generators, lasers, detectors, FPGA systems
- Build the data framework: acquisition, storage, monitoring and analysis tools
- Automate calibration and health monitoring so the node runs for long periods without intervention
- Develop standalone firmware and network-control software for the rack-based node
Requirements
- Degree in computer science, physics or engineering
- Strong Python and solid engineering practice: git, testing, CI, code review
- Experience controlling hardware or automating lab or industrial equipment
- Comfortable with Linux and networking basics
Nice to have
- ARTIQ or another real-time experiment-control framework
- C++ or Rust; real-time or embedded systems
- Distributed systems or network protocols
What we offer
- A founding-team role with real ownership of a first-of-its-kind machine
- A new quantum-optics lab in the Munich area
- Competitive salary and employee equity (VSOP)
- Close ties to the European quantum ecosystem; conference and training budget
- English as working language
