With a strong lineup of talks, posters, workshops, and tutorials, MQV's researchers demonstrated an exceptionally strong presence at this year's IEEE International Conference on Quantum Computing and Engineering, also known as IEEE Quantum Week. The conference, held for the first time at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, drew researchers, engineers, developers, educators, start-ups, and industry leaders from across the global quantum ecosystem. MQV's contributions covered the entire spectrum of quantum computing research, from applications and software to corresponding hardware. Participants of IEEE Quantum Week greatly enjoyed the variety of activities, which sparked exciting discussions.
The MQV stand in the conference exhibition area was a central point of contact for all inquiries about the project, especially the Munich Quantum Software Stack. Many visitors sought information about research and career opportunities within MQV and the broader Bavarian quantum ecosystem, as well as specifics on developing a software stack for quantum computing. For the first time at IEEE Quantum Week, MQV partnered with other companies and start-ups from the ecosystem. A new partnership with Canada
IEEE Quantum Week also provided the backdrop for a further deepening of ties between the Bavarian and Canadian quantum communities. On 15 September, MQV gGmbH and Mitacs, Canada's national innovation connector, signed an agreement to promote joint quantum research and talent development. Over the next two years, the partnership will support joint research collaborations and workforce development in the quantum sector, enhance the mobility of students and researchers through funding programmes, and encourage further collaboration between Canadian and Bavarian postsecondary institutions. Bavarian Quantum Reception at the OITC
Also on 15 September, the state of Bavaria's Ontario Office, Invest in Bavaria and MQV jointly hosted a Bavarian Quantum Reception at the Ontario Investment and Trade Centre (OITC) in Toronto. The evening brought together representatives from MQV, the Bavarian and Ontario quantum communities, and guests from industry, academia and government to mark IEEE Quantum Week, to network and to celebrate the new MQV–Mitacs collaboration in a more informal setting. The reception underlined the growing momentum behind the Bavarian–Canadian quantum relationship and offered a valuable opportunity for researchers and partners from both ecosystems to connect in person.
