Industrial internships

Munich Quantum Valley promotes the early-career exchange between students of quantum-science-and-technology master courses and quantum-tech companies through its industrial-internships program.

You can find all current industrial-internships postings on this page.
Note that the decision about which applicant is selected for a given internship will be made by the industrial partners or the Fraunhofer institutes offering the respective internship.

Industrial internships: Quantum Communication

IQM Quantum Computers – Internship

The internship program at IQM is designed to bring highly qualified and motivated students with diverse backgrounds into the organization to work on projects linked to the main task of developing the hardware and software of a quantum computer based on superconducting circuits.

published since:  application deadline:

qutools GmbH – Development of innovative teaching tools for quantum technologies (m/f/d)

Are you excited about quantum physics and want to share this fascination with the world? Then join our team and work on the development of innovative science kits for teaching quantum technologies to various target groups.

published since:  application deadline:

qutools GmbH – Testing a QRNG (m/f/d)

Are you interested in embedded software and its application in quantum technologies? Then join our team and work on the development of a generic testing apparatus for (quantum) random number generators.

OHB System AG Oberpfaffenhofen – Design and Implementation of High-performance FPGA-based Processing Algorithms for Secure Random Number Generation in Quantum Communications (m/f/d)

Satellite-based quantum key distribution (QKD) offers a paradigm-changing solution to the key distribution problem, enabling a new way of provably secure communication, especially over long distances. In this context, cryptographically secure random number generators are an essential building block of secure systems.

Within this internship, a High-performance FPGA-based Processing Algorithms for Secure Random Number Generation in Quantum Communications shall be designed and implemented to exploit advantages of quantum-based random number generation and to support its implementation in space-borne applications.”

OHB System AG Oberpfaffenhofen – Conceptual Design and Implementation of High-speed Digital and Analog Electronics for Time Synchronization in Quantum Key Distribution (m/f/d)

In order to distribute generated secure quantum keys with space-based systems, the precise assignment of temporal events between sender and receiver is crucial. A technology demonstrator breadboard for a free-space time basis synchronization below 100ps is currently build up. Its photonic part shall now be complemented with high speed electronics to transmit accurate timing information in very low SNR situations.

Within this internship a conceptual design and implementation of high speed digital and analog electronics for time synchronization in quantum key distribution (QKD) shall be elaborated.

OHB System AG Oberpfaffenhofen – Development and Implementation of Polarization Synchronization Algorithm for Microcontrollers (m/f/d)

Satellite-based quantum key distribution (QKD) offers a paradigm-changing solution to the key distribution problem, enabling a new way of provably secure communication, especially over long distances. The QKD design at OHB is based on polarization encoded quantum bits (Qubits). To ensure correct assignment of transmitted and received polarization via a polarization rotating channel, a high-performance synchronization is decisive.

Within this internship a synchronization algorithm shall be developed and integrated within a microcontroller environment.
